Mirror Mirror……..

“Mirror mirror on the wall who is the fairest one of all” (1)

So, who are we, really?

For sure, we are far more than that which looks back at us from the mirror, bleary eyed in the mornings, or the early hours of the morning depending on what we have been up to.

The Universal Teachings say that, as well as the obvious, the physical body, we have an astral body, an etheric body and a mental body all contained in a spherical container.

These four vehicles, our fourfold personality, assimilate energies from this, our fallen dialectical world and drive the three aspects of our consciousness, our thinking, desiring and acting in the head, heart and pelvic sanctuaries.

We all assimilate these energies in a slightly different way, and in some cases not so slightly different way, according to the experiences of the previous personalities that have inhabited the microcosm, as well as societal factors in the present incarnation. The differing energies assimilated colour the lens through which we see ourselves, others and the world in general.

All too often though, we concentrate on the obvious, the physical, looking back at us from the mirror. We concentrate on the outside, the facade, and neglect the other vehicles.

“Why do you wash the outside of the cup?
Do you not realise that he who made the inside is the same one who made the outside?” (2)

Perhaps by recognising we are far more than what we perceive when looking in the mirror, we can begin to understand, to gain insight, into what we truly are structurally.

More importantly, that insight may lead us to a process of repair that, when followed on the basis of insight, yearning and self surrender can begin a fundamental change, a fundamental reversal, and help us to become what we were once again.

“But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty, and it is you who are that poverty” (3)
